Growth Journey: Meet Alessandro

From team member to leader, hear how our culture of growth and support has shaped one career journey at NextGen.

We recently spoke with Alessandro Pinna, our Head of Customer Success about his leadership journey and how mentorship, practical training, and a supportive culture have shaped their growth. His experience offers useful lessons for anyone looking to advance their career, particularly around taking on challenges and making the most of available learning opportunities.

Q: How has NextGen’s ways of working and culture of growth and development shaped your journey to leadership?

A; The culture is defined by good managers and leaders who are always ready to help and teach. Having access to management style workshops and operating within a supportive culture has been instrumental in shaping my leadership journey.

Q: What opportunities for professional growth, like training or workshops, did you find most valuable in advancing your career?

A: Access to LinkedIn Learning covering more technical topics such as coding and databases as well as practical internal workshops (e.g., improving management style) were key. The ability to do hands-on training at my own pace was also highly supportive.

Q: What role has feedback or performance reviews played in helping you achieve your career goals here?

A: Receiving positive, constructive feedback from both my team and leaders was vital. It helped me clearly define what to focus on and significantly improved my communication skills and overall approach.

Q: In what ways has NextGen supported you in balancing new responsibilities with personal and professional growth?

A: I never felt immediate pressure to deliver; I could always lean on experienced colleagues for support. I’ve found the company provides a wealth of learning support and always ensures someone is available to help navigate new responsibilities.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to take advantage of NextGen’s growth opportunities to advance their career?

A: Focus on what you enjoy and excel at and don’t be afraid to take on new challenges. Remember, no one is perfect in a new role – it takes time. Embrace the discomfort and challenges as they always bring a reward and never be afraid to make mistakes.
