My Stack, My Rules Series

Ask someone what makes them effective at work, and they’ll usually highlight major milestones: qualifications, years of experience, or broad strategy. Less often mentioned are the small, specific habits and personal rules quietly applied every day, forged from experience and consistently applied, that drive real success. That is what this series is about.

The idea

We’re sitting down with people across NextGen engineering, product, sales, HR, and beyond to explore the software, routines, or mindsets they rely on to do their best work.

No highlights reel or formal job description. Just an honest answer in response to the question,

“What is one tool, habit or personal rule you rely on to do your job well, that most people outside your role might not guess?”

Why we are doing it

Job titles headline what someone might do but offers no insight as to how well they may do it . Most people have developed specific, practical techniques over time, insights born from experience often forged under pressure that have taught invaluable lessons. Some insights might be unconventional in their approach, all have been found to achieve results for the individual we spoke with.

What we hope you take from it

What could you take or apply or adapt from their experience that could benefit you? How might you apply that in the week ahead?
